Cytotec (Misoprostol)
Cytotec has a therapeutic action: cytoprotective inhibition of secretory cell activity of gastrointestinal tract.
Cytotec is a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin E1. It reduces the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, stimulates secretion of hydrogen carbonate and mucus. The drug protects the mucous coat of stomach and duodenum from injury with hydrochloric acid and other corrosive factors of gastric juices. Cytotec is used in erosion, stomach ulcer and duodenum for treatment, as well as the erosive [ulcerous] lesions of gastrointestinal tract on the background of drug therapy (prophylaxis and treatment).
Contraindications:
Cytotec’s taking is contraindicated with hepatic dysfunction, inflammatory intestines diseases, as well as children under 18 years, pregnant women, and during lactation period.
Other relative contraindications are: arterial hypotension, coronary heart disease, stroke, cerebral atherosclerosis, coronary cardiosclerosis, epilepsy, enterocolitis, diarrhea.
